2. Tanjong Rhu and Pulau Geylang

Tanjong Rhu is one of the oldest place names of Singapore, for it was mentioned in a 17th century map. In early 20th century, the shipbuilding industry used to thrive at Tanjong Rhu. Shipbuilding facilities like Overseas Shipyard Pte Ltd shown below were a common sight along the Geylang River and Tanjong Rhu.
